Experience

During his undergraduate studies, Jordan started a trucking and excavation business. As an owner of a small business startup, he led the day-to-day operations in addition to the accounting, payroll, and a myriad of clerical tasks small business owners must perform. Jordan understands the legal frustrations and challenges small business owners face.

In law school Jordan gained experience in a diverse of legal areas. He clerked at a private equity fund drafting entity formation documents, purchase agreements, and other business and real estate documents. While there, he also performed legal research on securities and tax law issues.

Jordan worked as a law clerk at Utah legal Services drafting litigation and appellate documents, assisting the financially needy. While there he gained valuable real-world experience interviewing and counseling clients in business, debtor’s rights, and landlord tenant areas of law.

As an intern at the United States Bankruptcy Court, District of Utah, Jordan clerked for the Honorable Judge Joel T. Marker drafting bench memorandum, reviewing the law in motion calendar, and conducting legal research. He gained valuable insight on the bankruptcy process and an understanding of the legal challenges facing debtors and creditors at court.

Community

In addition to his working experience, Jordan volunteered as the student director of the Debtor’s Counseling Clinic, a free legal clinic sponsored by the Utah State Bar and the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of law school. The Clinic helps those in need and overwhelming debt navigate bankruptcy, garnishment, and deal with debt collectors. As a student director, Jordan conducted trainings for other law students, prepared forms and information packets, as well he counseled clients on their legal rights as debtors.

Jordan is a volunteer leader for a local Boy Scouts of America troop. He enjoys outdoor activities and helping he youth experience the outdoors in a sustainable and responsible manner.
